Race For Home

Children posing after running raceNearly 2,000 children are currently in foster care in Cuyahoga County, the highest number of children in county care since 2011.

Now more than ever, we need foster and adoptive families to help care for our kids. That’s why we created Race For Home. Now in its second year, Race For Home raises awareness of the need for more families to help.

The Division of Children and Family Services is asking loving, committed adults to consider becoming foster parents for these children who need a safe and supportive home.

DCFS especially needs foster parents for small children (infants – preschoolers), teenage girls, and siblings who want to stay together.

There are three ways to learn more about becoming a foster parent:
  • Call the foster and adoption recruitment line at (216) 881-5775
  • Tell us you’re interested by completing an inquiry form.
  • Read our Foster and Adoption Guide for information about training, application, screening, and answers to frequently asked questions.
