National Adoption Month

November is National Adoption Month.  It’s a time when we highlight the needs of children who need a forever family.

The Children’s Bureau of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), reports there are 111,820 children awaiting adoption across the nation. Statistics tell us that it would take less than 1 percent of the American population to give every waiting child a home!

In Cuyahoga County, there are 508 children in permanent custody, 449 of them are awaiting adoption. More than half of the children waiting for families are children of color, over the age of seven, or members of sibling groups who should be placed together. That is why we’re focusing on older children, teens and siblings during National Adoption Month, because You Never Outgrow the Need for Family.

For more information on adoption contact the Division of Children and Family Services Recruitment Department at 216-881-5775.
